As a direct result of the City of Auburn being awarded the 2011 Amgen Tour of California Stage 3 Start, Bike Auburn! was formed to oversee event operations, engage the residents of Auburn in healthy outdoor activities ancillary to ATOC; promote the sport of bicycling within the Endurance Capital of the World community, and fulfill the philanthropic mission of Breakaway from Cancer campaign at a local level.

Breakaway from Cancer is a national initiative to increase awareness of the important resources available to people affected by cancer from prevention to education and support to financial assistance and survivorship.
